The
Medieval justice system was used to maintain power and rule. It was also used
to serve justice to local people. The justice system made the accused have to
go to court or through an ordeal. Ordeals helped them to determine whether or
not the person was guilty. If the person was found guilty, they were given a
harsh punishment no matter what the crime was. In the middle ages all the
punishments were harsh because they wanted people afraid of committing a crime.
